I know it has been a few days since I have put on an update.  Sorry about that, but here you go.

Not much of an update is always good news.  :)   Max is doing well.  He is gaining weight nicely, he is now 1060 grams and it on the maximum amount of food he can receive every 3 hours.  It looks like they will even be taking out his IV this evening.  As I have learned this can always change, but I will have my fingers crossed.  This means that he will be getting all of his nutrition from milk and the extra calories they add to it.  This is a huge step.  The next step is to get back to the other ventilator, but they want to make sure if they move him to that they can put it on very low setting so there isn't damage done to his lungs.  It is just a waiting game until him lungs mature enough.

He Has a Face

When I went for Max's 4:00 care yesterday they were about to change his face tape.  I got to see his face for the first time.  He is pretty cute.  Not the most comfortable for him since they can't let him move due to the tubes, but I was happy to get a few pictures to share. 

Max's numbers are still pretty good.  No new updates at this time so that is good news.  His oxygen levels have been in the 40's or 50's so not too high, but still plenty of room for it to go down.  I am still waiting to hold him, but he has to be off of his current ventilator for that to happen.  The nurse today said that he has to be stable enough so if something were to pull his breathing tube out he would be fine until they could get him back in his little home and the breathing tube put back in.  The made total sense to me, I would like that to be the case as well.  Doesn't look like I will be able to hold him for a while.  Oh well, I will keep waiting.  Yesterday he was still 1030 grams.  This was the first time in a while that he didn't gain weight.  Probably a good thing or he would be huge when I brought him home, I would have to return all of the clothes that I do have for him.  :)



Good Day

Max is having a good day.  His numbers are going the way we want.  The last couple of days his numbers have been going the wrong way.  He made this Mama happy today on my 8:00am visit.  Here are a few pictures.

3/1 (4:00pm) & 3/2 (8:00am)

As of 3/1 at 4:00pm Maxwell was 1010 grams (2 pounds 4 ounces).  As of 3/2 @ 8:00am they have added additional calories to his milk to help him grow even bigger.  It seems like he will be huge when I get to take him home.  We will see.....

His blood gasses are still up and down as is his oxygen levels.  Just more of the same.  Hopefully these will stabilize.  Otherwise he is doing pretty good.

Maxwell is doing pretty good.  His blood gasses have been up and down and they have had to keep adjusting his oxygen levels.  They are not really sure why they haven't been able to stabilize this.  They just keep doing tests to see why his little body isn’t stabilizing.  He is still nice and pink and will probably need to have another blood transfusion this afternoon.  He seems to like his blood.  :)

Oh yeah, yesterday he was 990 grams, That is about 2 pounds 3 ounces.  (28.3 grams per ounce)  He is gaining weight very nicely.
